The Street Markets of Vieux Nice (2007)

You will find the fishmarket (marché aux poissons) in Place St. François, every day from 6am till 1pm, except Mondays.

It’s such a pity that fish has become so much more expensive than meat.

I love to eat fish, and shrimps, scampis, gambas and lobsters.

This is the fruit and vegetables market (marché aux légumes et fruits) in Place Gautier and Cours Saleya. It’s open every day, from 6am till 1.30pm, except on Mondays.

All fresh and all coming from the Provence (or Italy).

The figs are wonderful, especially the black ones.

The flower market (marché aux fleurs), also in Cours Saleya, open every day, from 6am till 5.30pm, excepts Mondays. Sundays they close at 0.30pm.

Every Monday from 7.30am till 6pm there’s a flee market (marché à la brocante) in Cours Saleya.

This is Place du Palais de Justice. Each first and third Saturday of the month you can come here to buy second hand books (marché aux livres anciens et d’occasion). Each second Saturday of the month there’s an art market (marché des peintures et artisans d’art) here. The fourth Saturdays of the month are reserved for old picture postcards (marché aux cartes postales anciennes).
